Christopher Reeve and Synapse Biomedical
“Christopher Reeve led the way. Chris had the courage to be one of our first patients and led the way for successful outpatient laparoscopic diaphragm pacing system with a home based ventilator weaning program. I believe the new Christopher Reeve Foundation website and vision of GoForward is uplifting and I hope I have and continue to espouse Chris’s vision as we pursue our goal of getting every spinalcord patient injured patient off the ventilator.
Overall I hope we have kept Christopher Reeve’s vision of Go Forward alive, and someday hope we have a cure for spinal cord injury and eventually turn the DPS system off. Until then we can offer this system to any patient who has a spinal cord injury and allow them to breathe through their nose and mouth using their own diaphragm muscle just like the rest of us.”
